Legislation on Signal Jammers in Chad

Chadian legislation regarding the use of signal jammers is governed by Law No. 001/PR/2000 on the regulation of radiocommunication and Law No. 008/PR/2017 on the regulation of electronic communications. These laws prohibit the use of signal jammers without prior authorization from the competent authorities. The Telecommunications and Postal Regulation Agency (ARTP) is the regulatory body responsible for managing radio frequencies and granting authorizations for the use of signal jammers. The ARTP is also responsible for the supervision and control of radio frequency usage.

Obtaining Authorization for the Use of a Signal Jammer in Chad

To obtain authorization for the use of a signal jammer, it is necessary to submit an application to the ARTP, providing the following information:

• The name and contact details of the end user
• The brand and model of the signal jammer
• The description of the intended usage area
• The reasons justifying the use of the signal jammer

The application is then reviewed by the ARTP, and if approved, an authorization is issued for a limited period. In case of unauthorized use of a signal jammer, offenders are subject to fines and other penalties in accordance with the applicable legislation.
