Laws and regulations regarding signal jammers in Madagascar

The use of signal jammers is illegal in Madagascar. In fact, Law No. 2016-008 on electronic communications, adopted in 2016, prohibits the use, sale, and importation of any equipment or device that disrupts, blocks, or alters electronic communication signals. Offenders of this law face imprisonment and fines of up to 100,000,000 Ariary (approximately 23,000 euros).

Regulatory bodies

The regulatory body for electronic communications in Madagascar is the Authority for the Regulation of Communication Technologies (ARTC). It is responsible for regulating and supervising electronic communications, including the use of communication frequencies. The ARTC is also responsible for implementing the law on electronic communications, including the regulation of signal jammers.

Legal authorization for the use of signal jammers

It is not possible to obtain legal authorization to use signal jammers in Madagascar. The law clearly prohibits the use of any equipment that can disrupt electronic communication signals. The only exceptions are signal jammers used by government authorities for reasons of security or national defense.
