Laws and Regulations Regarding Signal Jammers in Congo

Congo enacted a law that prohibits the use of signal jammers in 2017. According to Article 26 of Law No. 17-2017 dated June 14, 2017, on electronic communications, it is prohibited to disrupt or intentionally interfere with signals emitted by telecommunication equipment. The law also imposes severe penalties for offenders, ranging from imprisonment to fines of up to 100 million CFA francs.

Regulatory Bodies for Signal Jammers in Congo

The Regulatory Agency for Posts and Electronic Communications (ARPCE) is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the use of signal jammers in Congo. The ARPCE is responsible for enforcing Law No. 17-2017 and has the power to monitor the activities of telecommunications operators and their equipment.

Obtaining Legal Authorization to Use a Signal Jammer in Congo

The use of signal jammers is strictly prohibited in Congo, except under certain specific circumstances. Article 27 of Law No. 17-2017 states that the use of signal jammers is authorized only for government agencies and security services that require them for reasons of national security or maintaining public order. Companies that need to use signal jammers for specific activities must submit an application to the ARPCE to obtain legal authorization.
