Laws and regulations regarding signal jammers in the Central African Republic

In the Central African Republic, the use of signal jammers is regulated by Law No. 10.018 of December 20, 2010, concerning the regulation of telecommunications in the Central African Republic. This law establishes the basic rules for the use of telecommunications equipment in the country, including signal jammers. According to the law, signal jammers can only be used by the security forces and intelligence services of the state for reasons of national security. Anyone who uses a signal jammer without authorization is liable to a fine of up to 50,000,000 CFA francs and/or imprisonment for up to 5 years. The law also requires that all telecommunications equipment be approved by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP). This approval is mandatory for all equipment, including signal jammers.

Implementation of the regulation

Law No. 10.018 of December 20, 2010, came into effect on January 1, 2011. Since that date, the use of signal jammers has been strictly regulated and subject to criminal sanctions.

Regulatory bodies

In the Central African Republic, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (ARCEP) is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing and regulating the telecommunications sector. ARCEP is responsible for approving all telecommunications equipment, including signal jammers, and ensuring compliance with the current regulations.

Obtaining legal authorization to use a signal jammer

As mentioned earlier, the use of signal jammers in the Central African Republic is strictly regulated and reserved for the security forces and intelligence services of the state.
