Regulation of Signal Jammers Usage in Azerbaijan

Laws and Regulations Regarding Signal Jammers in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, the usage of signal jammers is regulated by the Law on Telecommunications and Information Technologies, adopted in 2011. According to this law, the use of signal jammers is strictly prohibited, except for law enforcement agencies, state security and defense services, and authorized companies for security reasons. Signal jammers can be used in specific circumstances, such as security operations, military exercises, network testing, scientific and technical research, or facility protection activities. In all cases, their usage must be authorized by the competent authorities, such as the Ministry of Interior or the Ministry of Defense.

Effective Date of These Laws or Regulations and Regulatory Bodies

The Law on Telecommunications and Information Technologies, which governs the usage of signal jammers, came into effect in 2011. The National Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications (ANRTI) is the regulatory body responsible for supervising the entire telecommunications sector in Azerbaijan, including the usage of signal jammers.

How to Obtain Legal Authorization to Use a Signal Jammer in Azerbaijan

Any request for authorization to use a signal jammer must be addressed to the competent authority, such as the Ministry of Interior or the Ministry of Defense, which will review each case individually and provide a response accordingly. The use of signal jammers without authorization is strictly prohibited and may result in criminal prosecution.
