Regulation of Signal Jammers in Mongolia

Mongolia is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordered by Russia and China. It is a developing nation that has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Mongolia has a relatively well-developed telecommunications market, but like in many countries, the use of signal jammers is a sensitive issue.

Laws and Regulations

In Mongolia, the use of signal jammers is strictly regulated by law. The regulatory agency responsible for monitoring and enforcing these laws is the Authority for Communication and Information Technology (ACTI). Signal jammers are prohibited in Mongolia, except with express permission from the ACTI. Under the law, individuals or companies using signal jammers without authorization can face heavy fines and criminal penalties. Signal jammers can also be confiscated.

Effective Date

The regulations regarding signal jammers in Mongolia came into effect in 2009 with the adoption of the Telecommunications Law. This law sets out rules regarding the use of telecommunications equipment, including signal jammers.

Obtaining Legal Authorization

To obtain authorization to use a signal jammer in Mongolia, a written application must be submitted to the ACTI. This application must be accompanied by a detailed description of the equipment and its intended use. The ACTI will review the application, and if approved, will issue an authorization for the use of the signal jammer. This authorization must be kept at all times when using the jammer.
