According to Article 28 of the 2003 Telecommunications Law, anyone who uses or operates a radiocommunication station must obtain prior authorization from the country's telecommunications regulator, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). Signal jamming is considered a criminal offense under the Telecommunications Law. Article 45 of the law states that anyone who disrupts, interferes with, or damages telecommunications services is liable to penalties of up to 500,000 AED (approximately 136,000 USD) and/or imprisonment.

Regulatory Bodies

The TRA is the government body responsible for regulating the use of signal jammers in the United Arab Emirates. It is responsible for issuing permits for the use of these devices and monitoring their usage to ensure they do not disrupt telecommunications services. It is also responsible for enforcing the Telecommunications Law and prosecuting offenders.

Obtaining Legal Authorization

Any individual or company wishing to use a signal jammer in the United Arab Emirates must obtain prior authorization from the TRA. The TRA grants permissions for the use of signal jammers only in specific cases, such as security and national defense operations, public order maintenance operations, scientific and technical testing, or sea rescue operations. It is important to note that the use of signal jammers for personal or commercial purposes is not permitted.
